8 events in Darlington to look forward to in 2018


From live music and pantomime to comedy and carnivals, there’s something for everyone taking place in Darlington throughout 2018 (with many more to be announced). We’ve rounded up eight events that we are particularly looking forward to.

Multi-award winning BBC Radio 1 DJ Mistajam will be making an appearance at Inside Out in February. MistaJam is a true taste-making curator representing a huge spectrum of cutting-edge music styles within the leading lights of contemporary radio.

As seen on “8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown” and “Live At The Apollo”, the sharply dressed and well-spoken Tom Allen embarks on his debut solo tour, which stops off in Darlington this February.

As part of their 20th anniversary celebrations, iconic pop group Steps have announced a huge summer outdoor tour; Summer of Steps 2018, which includes a date at The Northern Echo Arena in Darlington.

The iconic Norwegian trio a-ha will be performing some of their biggest hits, as part of their 2018 Electric Summer Tour.  The trio will be joined by a full new band including a string section for what is set to be a stellar summer evening playlist.

Darlington Community Carnival is an annual all day event based in Stanhope Park and also includes a stunning procession through the town centre. This year’s theme is “Heroes and Heroines”.

Critically acclaimed stand-up comedian, “Celebrity Juice” regular, and the man who once got pizza delivered to a moving train, Chris Ramsey comes to Darlington with his new tour, “The Just Happy To Get Out Of The House Tour”.

Venue: Darlington Hippodrome

Darlington Operatic Society will be marking the 50th anniversary of the “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” film release by bringing the “truly scrumptious” classic musical to Darlington Hippodrome in October.

Venue: Darlington Hippodrome

Follow Aladdin, his brother Wishee Washee, and his mother Widow Twankey on a spectacular adventure at Darlington Hippodrome. Expect flying carpets, a wish-granting genie, an evil sorcerer and a lamp-full of laughs.
