Checkers Diner & Grill ‘will not reopen’

Checkers Diner & Grill on Northgate in Darlington will not be reopening its doors, the owners have confirmed.

Posting on the American diner’s Facebook page, a statement read: “For those of you that have noticed, we have been closed for three weeks now. It is with great sadness that the business owners have decided the best way forward is to sell the business. This means Checkers will not reopen.”

“We would like to thank our thousands of customers from not just all over the country, but all of the world. We have had our ups and downs, but it has been a pleasure to have served you all.”

According to the post, the new tenants will also be adopting the American diner theme, “but with a much more American ethos”.

The takeaway service, provided by Just Eat, will still be available until Wednesday, September 23rd, 2015.

Checkers Diner & Grill initially opened on Friday, October 3rd, 2014.
