Darlington for Culture is encouraging creative practitioners and local arts organisations to get involved with the Darlington Arts Festival 2019.
Now in its seventh year, the Darlington Arts Festival showcases a range of cultural activities and events to support and promote the arts in Darlington.
This year’s festival will take place between Friday, May 17th, 2019 and Monday, May 20th, 2019 in venues across the town centre and will be based on the theme of “Follow Your Art”.
Darlington Arts Festival Co-ordinator Helen Devonshire said: “The festival will be a snapshot of different types of arts activities that take place all year round but will focus on encouraging people to try something new; from watching bands and plays they don’t know, to joining a music group or choir, learning to dance or starting to write a novel.”
Any organisations with events planned for the dates, whether music, visual art, dance or other cultural and creative activities, can contact Darlington for Culture to be included in the programme and publicity material.
Alternatively, if you would like to organise an event specially for the festival, Darlington for Culture has a small number of grants available of up to £250. Further information about the small grants scheme can be found on their website.
For 2019, the festival welcomes the addition of a performance space in the Darlington Indoor Market called “Spotlight on…” The space will provide groups with the opportunity to promote their events for free and attract new members.
Darlington for Culture is accepting applications until Monday, March 18th, 2019. To apply, email firstname.lastname@example.org with the following information: your name and organisation name (if applicable); title of the event; details of date and times; venue; price of admission plus any age restrictions; and contact details (website/phone number).
