The Feethams Leisure Complex is set to receive an overhaul in a bid to attract new businesses and customers to the site.
As part of the changes, the complex will be renamed DL1 and will see the introduction of a large digital screen and a new pop-up unit for a pavement cafe.
According to the application, which was submitted to Darlington Borough Council by Indigo on behalf of Columbia Threadneedle, the external alterations are being made due to the complex “struggling to fulfil its potential” since the first restaurants opened in April 2016.
The application continued: “The podium level and the associated restaurants have suffered from a lack of footfall and consequently have not been performing as expected. This has led to vacancies, particularly at the podium level.”
The new plans are expected to “improve the appearance, profile and ultimately performance of the leisure complex”.
You can view the application and the plans in full on the Darlington Borough Council website.
Feethams Leisure Complex is currently home to Bella Italia, Estabulo, Mangobean, Nando’s, Subway, The Woollen Mill, The Chinese Buffet, Premier Inn and the Vue cinema.
