‘No reason for concern’ over Darlington gig as Jess Glynne cancels forthcoming shows

Organisers of the Jess Glynne concert at Darlington Arena believe there is “no reason for concern” following the news that the “Rather Be” singer had cancelled a series of dates.

Posting on Twitter on Thursday, June 27th, 2019, Jess Glynne said: “On the advice of my vocal surgeon, I am going to have to cancel my next shows through until July 14th and I hope to be back as soon as possible after that.”

The singer has recently pulled out of shows at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Middlesbrough and Isle of Wight Festival due to suffering “on and off for weeks with anxiety about [her] voice”.

The statement continued: “I know many of my fans feels I left them down so badly when I pulled out of the Isle of Wight festival but the reason I knew I was just wasn’t going to be able to make that performance has now been made clear to me by my doctor, Dr Zeiteis.

“Two days ago, I came to Boston to see my surgeon who told me my vocal chord has haemorrhaged and that if I wanted to remain as a performer, I needed to urgently take a break, rest my voice completely for the next ten days and remain in total silence to give my vocal chords a chance to recover.”

She added: “I never want to give you less than 100 per cent. I am so devastated to be letting anyone down but I want you to know the full truth of my situation.”

Following the new, fans of Jess Glynne who had purchased tickets to her show at Darlington Arena on Friday, August 2nd, 2019 raised concerns about whether the gig would go ahead.

Liz Doogan-Hobbs MBE, CEO of LHG Live, promoters of the concert at Darlington Arena, said: “We were saddened to hear that Jess Glynne has had to pull out of her most immediate concert commitments due to a haemorrhaged vocal chord, and we wish her a very speedy recovery.

“To fans in Darlington excited to see her in August, we can assure you there is no reason for concern, and we look forward to seeing Jess perform for you all on Friday, August 2nd, 2019.”
