A new live stage show allowing audiences to get up close and personal with actors from the UK’s most-loved soaps is set to visit Darlington in October.
Soap in the Cinema will visit cinemas across the UK, including a date at the ODEON in Darlington on Sunday, October 28th, 2018.
The shows will be presented by BAFTA-winning producer and writer, Tony McHale, alongside Debbie Arnold – the only actor to appear in “Coronation Street”, “Eastenders”, “Hollyoaks” and “Emmerdale” as a regular character.
Each event will see Debbie and Tony host a chat show style format, present iconic clips on the big screen, as well as pre-recorded inserts from four/five soap legends.
The soap stars appearing at the live shows include:
- Chris Chittell (Eric Pollard in Emmerdale)
- John Altman (Nick Cotton in Eastenders
- Sid Owen (Ricky Butcher in Eastenders)
- Brian Capron (Richard Hillman in Coronation Street)
- Sherrie Hewson (Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Crossroad)
- Julie Peasgood (Brookside and Emmderdale)
- Ian Kelsey (Emmerdale)
- Tim Bentinck (The Archers)
Debbie Arnold, Soap in the Cinema co-host and brainchild, said: “When we were all in soaps, 25 million fans would tune in and they’d see us lot as old friends.
“Nowadays there seems to be so much less engagement with fans and that’s a real shame.
“This show is all about taking soaps from the sofa to the big screen and we want the audience to be part of that! We want them to arrive as fans and leave as friends.”
Tickets for Soap in the Cinema start at £40 and are available from the Odeon website.
