Original Article (13/04/2018 – 13:22): The owners of South Park Café have unveiled plans to open a mini golf course in the park and are asking local residents for help in securing funding.

The Richmondshire Leisure Trust, who took over ownership of the café in July 2017, revealed the plans on a Facebook post.

The post read: “As some of you may know already, we are going to be building a mini golf course at South Park.

“To help fund this project we have been shortlisted for the Tesco Bags of Help scheme.”

Tesco Bags of Help is a local community grant scheme that sees money raised from plastic carrier bag sales being used to fund thousands of local projects in communities across the UK.

As part of the Bags of Help scheme, shoppers at Tesco are given a blue token, which represents a 5p donation.

Shoppers are encouraged to place this token in one of the slots in the in-store charity box, with each slot representing a different charity project.

The Richmondshire Leisure Trust continued: “For the next few weeks, we need the help of our customers to raise as much money as possible.

“All we ask for is when shopping in Tesco you make sure to get a blue token at the checkout and put it in to our slot before leaving the store.”

The blue tokens for the South Park mini golf course project can be donated in Tesco stores in Darlington, Newton Aycliffe and Bishop Auckland.
