Union J’s Jaymi Hensley will be donning his coat of many colours when “Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat” visits Darlington in May 2019.
The 27-year-old has been cast in the lead role in Bill Kenwright’s production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical, which opens in February 2019.
Jaymi Hensley is best known for being in Union J, who rose to fame in 2012 when they finished fourth on “The X Factor”. The boyband’s debut single “Carry You” peaked at number 6 in the Official UK Charts.
Speaking about the chance to play Joseph, he said: “I cannot describe how excited and honoured I am to be stepping into the prestigious coloured coat!
“When I think of iconic roles in musical theatre, Joseph was always one that I dreamt of playing growing up!”
Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat last toured in 2016 and features numbers such as “Close Every Door”, “Benjamin Calypso” and “Any Dream Will Do”.
Joseph opens on Wednesday, February 20th, 2019 at Theatre Royal Windsor before heading its way to Darlington Hippodrome from Tuesday, May 21st, 2019 to Sunday, May 25th, 2019.
