Vue Darlington has launched a competition for budding artists to coincide with the showing of “Exhibition On Screen: Rembrandt (Encore)” at the cinema.
To mark the 350th anniversary of esteemed artist Rembrandt’s death, the screening, hosted by London’s National Gallery and Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum, explores Rembrandt’s remarkable work interwoven with his life story.
To coincide with the screening of the exhibition, Vue Darlington is encouraging budding artists to put their creativity to the test by creating a portrait or self-portrait in honour of Rembrandt’s anniversary.
The winning artist will receive a luxury VIP package for the screening of Exhibition On Screen: Rembrandt (Encore) in Vue Darlington, along with confectionary goodies to enjoy during the show. They will also have the chance to have their artwork displayed in the cinema.
Chris Collier, General Manager of Vue Darlington, said: “I would urge anyone with an artistic flair to submit their work for our Rembrandt competition as soon as possible as the deadline is soon approaching.
“I know there’s a lot of creative talent in Darlington and this is a great way of showcasing it in the community.”
Budding artists who wish to enter the competition should send a picture of their work to firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline for entries is Thursday, April 4th, 2019.
Collier added: “This year has already been jam-packed with great event cinema, and by no means are we set to slow down.
“Along with the Rembrandt screening, we also have Take That: Greatest Hits Live and Royal Shakespeare Company: As You Like It.”
“Exhibition On Screen: Rembrandt (Encore)” will be screened at Vue Darlington on Tuesday, April 9th, 2019. Tickets can be booked on the Vue website.
